What happen to Nabisco Vanilla Wafers?

I haven't bought a box in a long time. I bought some today. The wafers are flat and crispy and no taste at all.
I remember them being thicker and softer with a good vanilla flavor. I am so disappointed.

Oh, I haven't looked for them. Here in the South, Banana Pudding (yuck) is very popular, and it takes vanilla wafers to make. So I know there is still a big marked for Nilla Wafers here.

Ritz crackers have changed (AKA: declined) in quality. I quit buying them.

My family loves banana pudding. I use Paula Deen's recipe. I don't use vanilla wafers in it. I use Chessman cookies when I can find them or plain vanilla cookies. I take it to potluck in individual disposable paper cups. I don't like a big pile of dessert to be spooned out. Looks messy and unappetizing. So the pudding does great in the cups.

I noticed that about Ritz too and most other flour products. Sad. Cheaper oil and low grade flour. I guess the young generation won't know the difference.

. I remember the post popping up twice to be submitted. I thought the first time it didn't go through. Could be the browser or page hiccup.

I find more and more as time goes on, that compaines are changing the specs on their products. I have compared some high priced companies products with store brand and find the store brand taste better at times.

our taste buds change and delicne as we age, not saying anyone here is in that age group. It only makes sense that things taste or smell 'not like before'.

I agree with you. Also, food is different than it was back in the day. So both are true in my opinion. I remember eating chicken as a child and it never had those enormous breasts that are bred into modern poultry. Also I have a turkey recipe from days gone by that took a lot of hours. Same recipe with modern turkey and cooks in half the time.
