I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I have read several places that cooking whole chicken in the slow cooker is not a good idea. It seems that the temp is not sufficiently high to maintain a safe environment for the chicken. The recommendation is to cut the chicken up before cooking. I used to cook whole chicken in the slow cooker but I am a bit wary of it now.

My grandmother fixed her chicken like this back when the Crockpot first came on the scene in the 70's. In forty years none of us have ever gotten sick eating it. And it is fabulous chicken.
