Easy & delish:
TROPICAL SMOOTHIE 1 cup vanilla non fat yogurt 1/2 cup canned crushed pineapple 1/2 cup orange juice 1/2 banana 2 Tbsp coconut (optional) 3 ice cubes Mix in a blender till smooth. Makes 2 cups. You can change out ingredients, such as adding fresh berries instead of canned pineapple and substitute any fruit juice for the OJ. I always start with the 1 cup yogurt and the 1/2 banana as my base. I think the banana is there for consistency moreso than flavor. If you really want to make it healthy, substitute wheat germ for coconut. |
Rice milk is in a carton in the juice isle in Walmart.Does't need to be refridgerated until opened.I haven't tried the Almond. I think the sky is the limit when making a fruit smoothie!

banana, blueberries, strawberries, mango, yogurt, and a little unsweetened Almond Breeze makes the best smoothie! Fills up the blender and I can drink the whole thing through the day. :-)

on the tropical blend, try some coconut milk....yummmmm

I make smoothies with frozen berries, yogurt and a little milk. Yum. You could substitute oj or any other kind of juice for the milk but I prefer milk, usually the yogurt container serves as my measuring guide.

I splurged a few years ago and bought a refurbished vitamix - it is WONDERFUL for smoothies and you get all the fiber too!
My latest addiction are kale smoothies!! I start with handfuls of kale and add a couple of organic apples, a banana, carrots, pineapple, and whey powder for protein, sometimes a handful of almonds too. I've even added some pumpkin. It's DELICIOUS! My 6 yo even loves them. He says they look like a pond, but they taste great. ;) |
I’m enjoying hearing about how everyone makes their smoothies. Naturalmama you reminded me that last fall I used organic apples & pears, got extras because they were on sale and needed them for baking. I used some fresh and froze some too. They are good together or separate and both go well with bananas.
Frozen peaches are good in smoothies too. |
