I really feel like I have spent the last few months phoning it in. I lay the blame squarely on a crazed schedule with baseball and the oppressive heat. The fact that I discovered quilting at the same time is just a coincidence....or this is the story that I will be telling...

I have a beautiful whole chicken, all cut up and ready to cook. I just can't decide what I want to do with it.....I have oranges, onions, celery, carrots, stock, garlic, new potatoes, russet potatoes, sweet potatoes, canned whole tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato paste, a cabinet full of spices and herbs.

Want something "fallish" and savory...

Ideas?

Put it in the crock pot with rice and carrots and let it slow cook all day! omg It it so good!! you can use yellow rice or brown rice! just make sure you put enough water in it and check it about 4 hours after you start it!! We are in ball too and im a single mom with little help!! I cook in the crock pot alot! Pork chops with BBQ sauce, Ham, roast! It is so much better!! Good Luck!!

I put my chicken hind quarters, smothered in BBQ sauce . in the crock pot on top of my vegetable steamer .
( I have a few cups of boiling water in the bottom). Let it rip for about three hours and the chicken is super soft and delicious. Add some more BBQ sauce if you think it could use some more . I serve Rice a Roni (fried rice ) with it to which I have added COOKED white rice since it is too salty for my taste .Serve with vegetables of your choice, frozen or fresh.

Yummy ideas. I haven't thought of using the crock pot for yrs. Always in a hurry......either use the pressure cooker or the Advantium. Thanks for the idea.
