    I assemble the quilt top first and apply the backing all in one piece. This way I know the blocks are square and even and I don't have a lot of seams showing on the backing. Just my preference.

    I have been using stitch #1 lately, as it allows you to reverse sttich -- #37 does not.

    I use the 1/4" quilting foot that came with the machine...

    ok so if I cut the strips say 2 inches wide rather than 1 and 1/2 wide - that sounds like a good plan.

    Also the terry cloth and starch - will try !
