At Goodwill, I found the homemade top in a L shape that someone had used for a computer table with Formica on it. Nice and big too. I nailed some 2x4's on the wall to fasten the top too. Works great...

Duh! I hadn't thought to cut up old pincushions. I have bought a few of the tomato pin cushions and my needles and pins rusted in them. Don't know what it was made out of.

I use single quilting thread. And do a blind stitch. Was told once that a double thread rubs against each other and frays.
Don't know how true that is tho. Matter of choice I guess.
