Design ideas

I've been asked to make a quilt for a friends mother's 75th birthday. They said she likes Betty Boop and pink and purple. Any suggestions on a pattern that uses feature fabrics?

Apparently they want the quilt to be 'girly' so the Dad doesn't use it. I'm not capable enough in applique to chance it on someone else's quilt. I don't like lace on a baby quilt. Not sure how to do...

I have never attempted applique before, so that's not an option for now. The Grandmother bought the fabric in Pittsburg. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but pink definitely doesn't work here.

the gold was lame (not sure of the spelling) I don't like working with it, it unravels and is hard to sew with but it looked so great on the quilt I had to use it
