My Walmart has good quality quilting fabric plus they carry light fabric for making clothing etc. This winter they opened a Joannne's store near us and the fabric is just as good as Walmart.

I have gone to pulling 2 or more threads to square the fabric and then cut it on the mat and not use the lines on the matt. My quilting looks a lot better and the blocks are square.
