I have a Gammill Vision 18/8 and rarely have tension issues. However, I use the Towa Bobbin Gauge with every bobbin change to check my tension. I rarely need to adjust the top thread tension.

The 500s are dependable machines. I inherited my grandmother's and have now passed it on to my daughter. The cams are a pain but one of the best zig zag stitches.

Love them both. Would be tempted to raid my stash further and make an entire quilt. The yellow is more subtle while the red makes a statement.

Renting longarm time
I am considering purchasing a longarm but would really like to spend a few hours on one first. Is there anywhere in the Houston-Southwest Texas area that you can rent time on a longarm?
