I’ve used towels in quilts with tee shirts. I always put fusible on the back and used cotton as the sashing. Long arm quilter never complained about it.

I do what peckish suggested….throw in the dryer for 20 minutes or so. I’ve also wet in my laundry room sink, getting most of the water out, drying and then doing the washing machine.
