I think it would be easier to just make another quilt for the twin bed. The crib size quilt can still be used as a "throw." I've lost count of all the quilts I've made for my grandtwins.

I just put the batting over he backing and overlap the batting pieces. I use Warm and Natural, so not sure how it would work with poly. You could test it with scrap pieces.
