The finished size of top is to be 72" x 72".

This size happily lends itself to a 6 x 6 grid of 12" blocks...

Another wee tip for when using such small pieces - when you come to line your two layers of fabric together, don't line up at the seam edge, line them up at the opposite side instead - the outside...
