The diagonals in the border are a different angle. Try drawing them the same angle and see if you like that better.
Just a thought, the last quilt I made with diagonals in the center I used 4 or 5...

I saw this tip somewhere.... for yardage sew the two raw edges together making a loop of the fabric before washing. One quick seam will keep the edges from raveling and is easily removed afterwards....
