I usually tidy up (or organize) at the end of each project... put the fabrics and thread colours used etc. I do change things around but it's often because I have to because I've purchased another...

I too have not regretted buying any of my vintage machines, although I've had to sell a couple to make room for more lol.

Although I try to keep it tidy because it's just off my kitchen (I can cook and sew at the same time! lol), I generally do a tidy up at the end of each project.

I use Pilot FriXion erasable pens for marking. To remove all you do is use an iron on low heat. It will wash out too. You can get the pens anywhere like Walmart, Staples etc.
