I've never done it personally but here's the service manual http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/111W152_W153_W154_W155.pdf. I really like your craftsmanship on that pedal, I have to admit I would...

There was a temporary agency called the War Production Board formed by FDR's executive order that more or less had full control of civilian industry - directing factories what to make, allocating raw...

opalstar, the large spring that you can see in the fourth pic of post #30 is the one you have to worry about, I think the smaller springs you're talking about are the motor brushes, which you don't...

opalstar, the motor should be pushing against the handwheel at all times, it sounds like that spring still isn't quite right.

opalstar, there's a coil spring inside the arm of the machine that pushes the motor against the handwheel, yours is probably just out of place. Here's how you can check, its fairly simple:

First,...

Yup, I have one and it works fine with 15x1 needles, it's just a matter of timing the eye of the needle to the hook. Distance from the eye to the hook doesn't really matter.

Also I want to point out these machines use C1221 needles, like Mickey2 said, but it's actually quite

opalstar, does the motor just rotate downwards when you let go of it? It's supposed to be spring loaded to hold the pulley against the handwheel.

leonf, It's been a while since I took that off, but I think there was just the set screw. FWIW to get stubborn handwheels off I'll put a piece of 2x under the needlebar to stop the shaft from turning...

No, I was just going to pull the parts off it and scrap it, it's actually worse than it looks in the pic. You're more than welcome to the handwheel if you pay the shipping.

Is it possible the stop motion washer got turned the wrong way? That will prevent the knob from tightening down properly. Is the handwheel spinning fast when the motor runs fast?
