I use an old kitchen table -- the oak looking top with 4 beefy white legs and I then set it on bed risers to save my back. With the table having beefy legs they don't shift around in the risers.

If you take out the circles in the middle like some have suggested, you will have a "hole" and need to replace it with something else -- in my opinion. I think it is beautiful!
