Always bare foot and only put on the socks if my feet really get cold. Can't sew with shoes on. Don't wear shoes in the house much and they are the 1st things kicked off when I get home.

I have done the same thing. Iron a couple of Bounce/Downey dryer sheets and it will clean the bottom of the iron. It won't hurt your iron and it does work.
