Yes, I am definitely seeing how having more than one machine helps a lot! As I said, I use my old Rocketter for piecing (it stitches beautiful, straight, perfect 1/4" seams :-) - though surely not...

Need help learning applique' on my Singer 500E Rocketeer
Hi all,
I am having a lot of fun with the Singer 500 I acquired this summer. I even pieced and completed my very first quilt on it (QAYG, with sashing, for my mom). Now I am doing a sampler BOM...

THANK YOU - this worked :-) I took it apart and there was too much room before the contact strip was touching the contact on the rheostat. Such a simple fix :-) Many thanks.

500E Pedal control issues - requires full power to start sewing then races
Hi all,
I feel like this is a common problem with these old foot controllers - at least, I had this problem with my mother's Singer 600 and also my 500E Rocketeer. Whenever I start to sew for the...

We tried setting the needle plate lever to "darn," which does lift the plate a bit, but at least for our machine, it wasn't perfect - the feed dogs would still sometimes catch the fabric, so it was...

Free Motion Quilting on my Singer 500E (Rocketeer)
Yes, we (me and my husband) decided to see if we could use our Singer 500E (Rocketeer) to free-motion quilt. It was piecing just fine yesterday as I worked on piecing a block for my BOM quilt, but...

My Singer 500E (rocketeer) does not have a lever to drop the feed dogs, either. I just remove them for FMQ and then replace them for piecing - it's just two screws and they're off :-)
