Thank you both for the suggestions. I'll try to record some video today if I have time and show exactly what I'm seeing when I turn the hand wheel, and what moves when the lever is moved ect.

They don't really seem to do anything though...
They don't really seem to do anything though other than limit the movement of the lever. The lever seems to only set the needle position. I can't find anything else that looks like it should do...
