I've been told that if you wipe down the areas...
I've been told that if you wipe down the areas the ants travel through with 100% white vinegar that the ants won't cross it. Haven't tried it myself, but the vinegar wouldn't hurt the baby or pets....

I use a serpentine wavy stitch and straddle the ditch. Since the stitch "wobbles" anyway, it helps to hide any of my "wobbles". I've converted a lot of other quilters to this method. Try it and see...

I like this quilt the way it is. Not ugly at all, in my humble opinion. How about using a brighter pink thread for the quilting? That might give a bit of pop that the other commenters have mentioned....
