If using fabrics/prints that have large repeats...
If using fabrics/prints that have large repeats or require fussy cutting,allow for more yardage.
Some prints do not work well if cut "just anywhere".

I think one could get by with 60% of the original yardage (assuming there are not long borders, etc) to 2/3 (67%) of the original...

lf fabric like skinny quarters - I use thst method of pinning.
It does minimize tangling.
I overcast raw edges before washing the fabric.
