I prefer cut. In my opinion,when fabric is torn it distorts the fabric and I have to cut quite a bit off to get it straight. I think fabric shops should give customers an option.

Almost everything I've read about FMQ says to lower the feed dogs. I found (by accident) that I do a much better job with the feed dogs left up. It does take a lot of practice.

I use 16 pound typing paper. You can usually find it at an office supply store. It works very well in a copier so you don't have to trace your pattern. Also, it is very easy to remove.
