    If I don't have the entire wof, is it OK to sew strips together to get the 44-45 inches of length?

    Also, what kind of starch do you recommend? Do you use spray starch?

    I agree that you have a wonderful opportunity to get a new PFaff machine. They are one of the best! Maybe look for a used one, if money is the issue.
