I made a quilt for my sister and gave it to her for Christmas. She called a few months later and asked if it was washable - because her son "wet" it. I was thrilled. At least I know she's using it!

I don't think the smell is limited to Fiskars mats. I have an Olfa mat and it smelled pretty bad when I brought it home. I hate to think about what the chemical fumes have done to my life...

The instructions actually say cut on the bias. The templates have a grain line that definitely indicates a bias cut square or rectangle.
