    actually, you con't sew it. you press the pieces into the foam board.

    One more suggestion - meet her at your local quilting store. Don't they have a table for people to work? That way she (or you) could also buy supplies if needed.

    finding fabric

    I'm not sure of that specific fabric, but try southwestdecoratives in Albuquerque, NM. They have FABULOUS south west fabric.
