I have a Janome 11000 plus a pfaff 2170 you can call me a little compulsive lol i hoop the stablizer and lay the material on top of that , my machine has a basting stitch that holds the material ....

If I can help it I don't hoop everything I have a built in stitch that locks the fabric to the stablizer it does a border around the pattern. I also did a lot of lace christmas ornaments for the tree
