Yes they do have a pin in the shuttle to carry the bobbin with a hole thru it. I have a Peerless White HC and it took me awhile to find the bobbins for it. Ebay has them or did.

No I can't imagine making a tractor of this...
No I can't imagine making a tractor of this machine. I have a New Companion and it sews great and use it often makes a wonderfull even straight stitch. Mine is in a parlor cabinet.
