If you put the hinges in the upright position and stick a rubber band around them to hold them up you can install the machine by yourself. I do it all the time.

My school table is a little different version but...
My school table is a little different version but I love it too. Mine came with a 500 in it but since I'm not a Singer gal it went to a new home.
