thanks for the reply, I am sorry you are having such a time with the 3160. I guess sewing machines are like any other "thing" we buy.....you get good ones or you get a bad one. Luck of the draw...

I am curious why you want to replace the Janome 3160? I have that machine, use it for classes and love it. Have you had an issue or problem with it? Sorry can't offer any info on the Sparrow 30.
