And for me, I do see the teal better, as in sticks out like a sore thumb-------it's way too dark for rest of the quilt. But then maybe there is quite a bit of darker teals in the rest of the quilt....

There's something I really don't like about the teal. You've hit the nail on the head. It stops the eye from going to the very nice teal/brown border.

Brown! The pattern on the brown matches the pattern on the border, IMO! The color of the teal seems a bit dark, at least on this computer screen. Guess I ought to fess up to loving the brown batik...
