This is going to be beautiful. I agree the strips should follow the angle of the cut, not go across it and it is smart of you to decide putting darker fabrics at the ends to give it a 3D effect....

yea, I kinda like it too. I think even without those dark strips on the vertical ends, it still has a 3D look about it.
Would love to see the finished top!
