You're right, they are very pretty. I might actually make them :D But I think I won't continue with this quilt and just make a wallhanging out of the blocks of these first 3 months.

It was a 300 years of red and white quilts exhibit so IMHO the blocks don't need to be historic. Modern blocks fit in as well. The blocks you mentioned are great and will fit in perfectly.

Consider it a practice piece in Y seams :D They're not that hard as long as you mark the 1/4" seam lines and don't sew into the seams. Start or stop exactly where the lines cross.
