    Most females are not the least bit handy....including me. A saw and screws might be enough to make a top out of plywood, but I would not want that kind, and a finished wood top would be quite a bit...

    I think that machine was made after Singer's were all steel, so check the gears as they might be plastic and crumbling already. Also, how would one sew with the machine in that cabinet?? The fabric...
