it just slides over the wheel shaft. See my 66's below- so the bobbin winder is attached. A screw thru the top of the small
arch only.

here is a vintage hand crank and a new one side...

here is a vintage hand crank and a new one side by side. The new one does not have the protrusions on the base, and the 'leg' of the mounting bracket is longer.
