In the "olden days" we made the cans by soddering the cans at the points that they touched. I don't remember them ever coming apart.
Be sure that they are opened with a "church key" triangle beer...

Truly amazing. I tried one with 1 1/2 inch squares for a doll house and it was difficult. Can't imagine 5/8" Kudos on beautiful projects.
