If you want metal parts, Bernina is still a quality machine. I actually like Janome better. I would say when buying a new machine I would go with a brand that can be serviced locally.

I don't think you can go by Bonnie's measurements. Just a hair difference in your 1/4" seam could add or subtract more than an inch either way because there are so many pieces in a "Bonnie" quilt
