How to renew cutting board

Many of my grid lines have gouges after plenty of use. Am I cutting too hard? It is a really high quality board. I think I
read some time ago it could be renewed by soaking in water. Help

White background is awful...Cannot see the print well at all. Try bolder fonts and different backgrounds.

This was supposed to be a queen size D9P rag quilt. Stopped working on it when I got tired of it and wanted to start another project. As stated by others, Quilts just turn out the way they turn out.

Will tack all panels with dark green cotton thread. Will have to decide before sewing them together if I want the "rag" to show on the top...
