Consult the Schmitz web site for needle size. Also need to lengthen stitches to accommodate the thicker fabric. 2.5 is set for two layers of regular quilt fabric weight.

My research indicates sewing machine oil should only be kept 5 years. Oil found in old machines should not be used. I understand it breaks down chemically after too long.

Has anyone had a problem with the blue migrating back out of the quilt by just spritzing. Some have said this might be a problem and the quilt should be washed to remove all the blue.
