Fleece backed quilts hold up well, quilt beautifully ( always remember to Smooth, don’t Stretch while quilting) I always use batting- we like our quilts warm and ( cushy)

I use lightweight muslin for a foundation and I do trip the strips as needed to make sure they are straight to begin with- being scraps they often need to be straightened but I only cut off slivers....
