I would do it the way you described - Or do I sew eyelet to top with batting and then put backing right sides together, stitch, turn and then quilt the top? You would not need binding then.

I keep a picture as well as a copy of the pattern. This really helps when I n to figure the cost of a quilt. Also keep an album for quilts on a flash drive and cloud for insurance purpose.
