In reply to your question about Free motion quilting, I watched a lady demonstrate FMQ on a Featherweight at Paducah. You have to cover the feed dogs, and she said to set the stitch length at 0, then the dogs would just go up and down, not pull the fabric. You can cover the feed dogs with an index card. The lady at the AQS said she put one of those silicon sheets on the bed, the kind with just the needle hole cut out.
