I do understand the removal of the seam allowances. So bear with me here...
If I take 2 strips which are each 3" x 5.5" and sew them together along the long side, my finished size is a square, which is 5.5" x 5.5". Right? Let's call that Unit 1.
Then I am going to take another strip (also 3" x 5.5") and I am going to sew that along one end of Unit 1 so the second seam is now perpendicular to the first.
That would be the finished block, right?
And the size of that block would be 5.5" x 8". Right?
What's confusing to me is that Holice describes each individual block as 2.5" x 7.5".
Even if that is describing the finished size of the block, wouldn't that be 5" x 7.5"?
I think the illustration of the block is very clear, but I think the size of the block in the text is not correct.
