Mimee4 ~ OR anyone else who can help!!

I just finished a college themed quilt top and decided to do the back in the same colors but different pattern so it could be 'reversible'. Actually, I have to sew on a black boarder all the way around the back, second pic. Now I am stuck on how to put it together. I'm using, kind of a sheet blanket, but not exactly, for the middle. I thought I would stitch in the ditch the top with the middle and then tie it with black thread, more of a stitching in one spot, but hidden as much as possible...not really tied... to the back. For some reason it was really hard to stay in the ditch and I gave that up after ripping out a couple spots on the first try.

I'm new to the process of quilting the quilts. I have made 5 tops but haven't quilted any of them.

I don't want the traditional quilting...I want it to look more like a blanket, less quilted looking.

Any help would be appreciated.
