I try to make 2 quilts when doing gifts for new babies... one with muted colors (pastels, etc.) using blue/pink for boy/girl or the neutral soft yellows, soft greens... the other one in bright colors with a neutral 'child' theme... My thinking is muted one for calming effect (naps?) and the other for stimulation (play pad?)
