Welcome aboard! You've joined an awesome group if people who enjoy fabric art all the way from A to Z, and lots of good teachers among them. I'm also fairly new to QB, but have been a sewer for many years, just recently into quilting. Enjoy your time with whatever your project, and remember to share with your students. I was an alternative high school teacher with rough n' tumble hard core students that really took a turn when I opened up to them about my interests and they began to share theirs.
