My MIL (GOD REST HER SOUL) made skirts for the girls (SILS) with gingham and embroidery thread. 8 girls in that family! I helped until I fell asleep and my MIL stayed-up all night to finish for Easter Sunday. I learned a lot from that lady!
They live in the midwest and years later on a visit, I saw the fabric as pillow cases.
