Thanks to everyone for your replies. I am aware of the rules for the flag and my intention was never to disrespect it in anyway - my husband retired from the Navy after 26 years and I've always honored our flag. I want to go by the basics of the flag and change it in some way. I was more interested in the measurements of stripes area compared to the stars area. Sorry for the lack of communication.
