I think it's because of the economy and the word got out about the thrift stores, etc. Too bad for those of us who shopped there for years. Garage and yard sales still have the best prices but not as big a selection.
I think prices have gone up because the stores now have to offer their employees benefits like health insurance, a good thing. Our local one got expensive, but recently has come down somewhat, so go back and take another look. Remember, you are supporting a good cause as well. Many are not as fortunate as we are.
