I was gifted some fabric from my MIL's stash and didn't realize that one of the blues was bad until it literally turned my hands blue when I put on the binding. I was upset. Ended up washing the darn thing about 8 times and it still looked like the ocean let loose. That tought me to double check any darker/intense colors under the faucet to determine just how much they run. I rinse first, then wash. So far so good.
Sorry you have to deal with this mess and disappointment. Don't give up - one of the remedies is bound to work.
