I just oiled the parts that move while cleaning the bobbin area. That is all I can tell you. If you are afraid to do it, take it in for a service. But it should be fine for several quilts. I made 7 lap quilts including FM and 8 doll quilts. I love this machine. I am thinking about buying another just for a back up.
